TIPS EdTech Research Project

Researchers at Educational and Community Supports (ECS) are hiring 1-2 graduate students as data collectors on the newly-funded TIPS EdTech grant. The grant aims to develop an online training for Tier 2 data team members as well as an online application for data teams to enter and use their data during meetings. The people hired will work directly with the research team including Erin Chaparro, Rhonda Nese, Anne Todd, and Dane Ramshaw. Some of the data collection activities will include:

* Attend research meetings regularly
* Assist with focus group administration
* Collect data during focus groups (this will include taking notes and summarizing survey data)
* Assist with the development of online modules on the Oba learning management system
* Support data teams use the Oba learning management system
* Observe data team meetings held at elementary schools
* Have a car or transportation to drive to Eugene-Springfield area schools to observe meetings
You will be asked to complete these tasks on an ongoing basis beginning immediately through the spring term. Training on the observation tool and Oba will be provided. There is the possibility for some summer hours. Data collectors should be expected to work approximately 65 hours per term. The research team includes: Erin Chaparro, Rhonda Nese, Anne Todd, and Dane Ramshaw.

Pay Rate – $14/hour

Rate of Pay: $10.25 per hour; average 10 hours per a week

The Office of the Dean is the central administrative unit for the College of Education that is comprised of four academic areas and sixteen research/outreach units.  Functions of this office could have an effect on all or part of the entire college.  The assigned mission is to prepare individuals to become administrators, teachers, researchers, and other related professionals.

 

Purpose of this Position:

This position provides support in a wide variety of tasks for the Dean, Assistant Dean, Associate Deans, and others affiliated with this office.  Student employees are expected to be courteous to coworkers and the general public, be accurate, conscientious, perform tasks in a timely manner, communicate well, report on time, and dress appropriately.

Description of Duties:

50%                 Customer Service – Answer phones and greet visitors to the COE Dean’s Office.  Give accurate information and direction to all inquiries.

 

30%                 Enter content for a variety of projects on the computer using spreadsheets, databases, and word-processors.  Perform general office tasks including, but not limited to:  copying, filing, sorting and distributing mail, assisting with bulk mailings, monitoring bulletin boards, creating files, sending/distributing faxes, filling office machines with paper, monitoring conference room schedule, typing purchase orders and other forms.  Assist with projects as requested.

20%                 Weekly/monthly/as needed cleaning and maintenance tasks:  collection of recycling, cleanup kitchen and counter, cleanup mailroom, water office plants, clean glass on copiers, change toner, dust appropriate areas, clean refrigerator and dispose of out dated food, defrost refrigerator.

Working Conditions:

Typical office environment.  Some heavy lifting required (up to 25 pounds).  Use dolly to transport boxes across campus and back.  Office hours are 8 am – 5 pm.
